How to do them fast
The goal here is recall: if you have to work a fact out, mark it and learn it. Until then, these get you there:
9 × 7 = 63
10 × 7 = 70 → 70 − 7 = 63
12 × 8 = 96
10 × 8 = 80 → 2 × 8 = 16 → 80 + 16 = 96
