Frequently asked questions
How the daily sprint, the score and your streak work.
Is it free?
Yes. The daily sprint, practice and the leaderboard are all free. There is nothing to buy and nothing to download.
Do I need an account?
No. Signed out, your streak and history are kept in your browser. Signing in with Google is optional; it keeps them when you switch phones or browsers.
What is in each daily sprint?
20 problems: five additions, five subtractions, five multiplications and five divisions, in that order. Each round of five gets harder as it goes. Every answer is a whole number.
Does everyone get the same problems?
Yes. Everyone gets the same 20 problems on the same day, so times are fair to compare.
When does the next sprint start?
At midnight in your own time zone.
How is my score worked out?
Your score is your time. A right answer moves on by itself and a wrong one clears, so a mistake costs only the seconds it takes to fix. The clock starts after a 3-second countdown.
What do the green, yellow and red squares mean?
Each square is one problem: 🟩 under 2 seconds, 🟨 2 to 4 seconds, 🟥 over 4. Share the grid to show how you did without giving away the problems.
Can I play the daily sprint again?
Only your first run each day counts for your streak and the leaderboard. For more rounds, Practice gives you a fresh set whenever you like.
What name shows on the leaderboard?
The nickname you type before you start, if any. If you're signed in and leave it empty, your first name from Google is used. Otherwise you show as Anonymous.
How does the streak work?
Play at least one daily sprint each day to keep it going. Signed out it lives in this browser; signed in it follows you to every device, along with runs you played on this one before signing in.
How can I get faster?
Look at your grid for the round with the most red and practise that operation. The guide to getting faster and mental math tricks explain how.
Can kids and classes use it?
Yes. There's no account to make, and a whole class gets the same problems each day. Children under 13 should use it without signing in.
How do I delete my data?
Clearing this site's data in your browser removes what's kept there. To delete a signed-in account and its runs, email [email protected] from the address you signed in with.
